2023 Corvette Z06 Experiences Strange Transmission Problem
After shifting into neutral on its own at a stoplight, the owner of this 2023 Corvette Z06 has endured quite the saga in the weeks since.
Thus far, the 2023 Corvette Z06 has proven to be a largely reliable vehicle, save for a few isolated issues here and there – chiefly among them, a couple of engine failures. However, like any brand new car, the Z06 is not immune to its fair share of teething problems, and the one experienced by YouTuber Rob Ferretti of the superspeedersrob channel is a bit stranger than most, as he has documented via multiple videos over the past couple of weeks.
Ironically, just a few hours after bragging about how reliable his 2023 Corvette Z06 has been, Ferretti was at an intersection when suddenly, the transmission refused to shift and he got stuck motionless. A nearby shop cleared the codes for him, and he was able to bring it back to his own shop, at which point he found that it was throwing codes for the transmission control system and a voltage circuit that is unable to engage, which resulted in the transmission not being able to engage drive.
On the next test drive, the 2023 Corvette Z06 popped into neutral even when it’s in drive, which is strange, indeed. Turning the car off and back on temporarily fixes the problem, but interestingly enough, charging the battery made it go away completely, leading Ferretti to believe that this was simply a low voltage issue. Shortly thereafter, however, this saga took a bit of a strange turn.
With the car now throwing up a cool dozen codes, Ferretti went through a bit of a struggle trying to find a dealer able to work on it in the first place, after which another dealer tried to blame the problems on a disabling device – which this particular Z06 doesn’t have, like many of Ferretti’s other exotic rentals. It does have a passive GPS tracking device on it, however, which also causes a bit of a debate.
It’s a frustrating situation indeed, but not an entirely uncommon one – after all, many dealers are quick to point to aftermarket upgrades as the root cause of issues, in general. In the meantime, Ferretti looks like he’ll be forced to take his 2023 Corvette Z06 elsewhere, but we’ll certainly be tuning in to see how this situation ultimately gets resolved.
