There’s fast, then there’s this. Watch this C3 take off!

We’ve all seen an insanely fast C3 Corvette before, but we never thought we’d see one quite as bonkers drag racing in the Netherlands. Calling this particular example fast would be an understatement. For starters, this C3 can hit the quarter-mile in just 7.5 seconds with a speed trap clocking in over 170 MPH. Can anyone say light speed?

The reasoning behind the ludicrous speed can be credited to the work done by Polish company VTG. According to Motor Authority, the Corvette makes 1,628 horsepower, thanks to a 6.2L LT1 V8 engine usually found in the Corvette Stingray and Camaro SS. The motor was opened up, bored, and built to the max as expected. In addition to the internal modifications, a turbo kit was installed with massive loads of air being fed by a rather large 91-millimeter turbocharger courtesy of Turbonetics.

With all that power, the C3 isn’t going to get anywhere fast without good traction. VTG was well aware of this and the solution was to covert to all-wheel drive. The AWD system from the GMC Typhoon was fitted, allowing the ‘Vette to put the power down to all four wheels via 3-speed automatic transmission.

It’s hard to believe but VTG actually says that there’s still more power left on the table, but decided to hold back for better reliability. More power sounds great until a connecting rod or piston decides to make a hole through the block.
