Callaway homologated the Corvette for GT3 competition, and now will field two full-time cars in PWC.

Corvette and Callaway Competition have a long and storied history, and it’s about to get even better. Callaway, responsible for the build, design, and homologation of the GT3 C7 Corvette has agreed to take on a works style entry with two C7 GT3-R race cars to compete for the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge season.

With an ACAD Masters championship already in the bag for the C7 GT3, Callaway’s know-how is now ready for the North American racing market. Greg Gill, CEO of Pirelli World Challenge is especially excited to bring Callaway on board, saying “For several years fans have asked when they would see the Callaway Corvette GT3 run in the Pirelli World Challenge. The wait is over and we are very pleased to announce the arrival of the Callaway Corvette GT3 for the 2018 season.”

GM’s presence in PWC took a hit when Cadillac announced they were withdrawing their very successful pair of V-series cars from the series, meaning Callaway’s effort with the GT3-R Corvette will be important for GM. Callaway has said their factory effort will not overshadow any privateer entries using the GT3-R as technology and data sharing will ensure competition remains close and fair.

Full-time drivers for each car will be announced in the early part of December at the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis.
