This incredibly quick Corvette Power Wheel actually manages to beat one car, and also hangs with ones that are far more powerful.

Long before many of us were able to purchase a Corvette, we had a Corvette Power Wheel to tool around in, dreaming of one day trading it in for the real thing. These small, slow, electric machines are common sights in any suburban neighborhood to this day, with the Barbie Corvette being one of the most recognizable and perhaps famous of the bunch. However, this pink Corvette Power Wheel owned by YouTuber Joel Creates isn’t some painfully slow kids toy – it’s been fortified in a number of ways, to the point where he recently figured that he should line it up against four full-size Corvettes in a series of highly entertaining drag races.

Our host is quite confident in his Corvette Power Wheel, which is an all-wheel-drive beast with a go kart frame and the electric motors out of a small EV motorcycle. This is precisely why Joel opted to convert his toy to drive all four wheels – adding copious amounts of torque is fine and all, but if you can’t get the car to hook, well, it’s pretty much useless. To accomplish that, he added the hub motors from the motorcycle to the front wheels of the Corvette Power Wheel for max traction.

The three total motors that power this tiny Corvette get their juice from lithium polymer battery cells that Joel sourced from medical equipment backups. When piecing this all together, he even went to the trouble of ensuring that he mounted the motors and batteries in locations that would lower the center of gravity and shift the weight forward, all with the idea of maximizing performance. The results were quite impressive right off the bat, with Joel noting that driving his new toy felt “sort of like hanging onto a rocket.”

The only question left to ask was, can this toy beat real Corvettes in a drag race? After reaching out to a bunch of owners, Joel found four opponents and a track to race on. First up is a 1960 model, with a goal of seeing who could finish the eighth mile first. Even with 270 horsepower on tap, the C1 didn’t stand a chance. Next up, a 1991 Corvette, which managed to edge him out with a 5.6-second 0-60 time versus 5.9 seconds for the Power Wheel.

As one might imagine, this was probably it for Joel, as his next opponent was a supercharged C5 making over 600 horsepower. Of course, the Power Wheel lost, but amazingly, it actually held the lead from the start to around 30 mph, and it also managed to give a C8 a proper fit all the way down the track, too. It’s an impressive result for a home-built hot rodded kid’s toy, and it certainly makes us want to go dust ours off and do precisely that same thing.
