Racing, light show, and parade highlight 20th annual event, which is also state’s biggest charity fundraiser.

With 500 Corvettes to choose from, it will be hard to pick a favorite, but thousands of people will be doing so at the 20th Annual Hot Springs Corvette Weekend & Car  Show, happening April 19-21 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

The event is hosted by the Central Arkansas Corvette Club, which is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. From its humble beginnings 20 years ago, the Corvette Weekend & Auto Show has become the state’s single largest contributor to the Spina Bifida Clinic of Arkansas.

Newly announced on Central Arkansas Corvette Club’s Facebook page is a light show happening April 20. Earlier that day the group is hosting a scenic road tour as well as autocross racing, plus the Corvette parade.

Opening Ceremonies on April 21 will start with the Indoor Corvette Show at the convention center, followed by a silent auction and a live auction. The Sixth Annual Valve Cover Car Race is also set to take place.

Special guests this year include Corvette Hall of Fame member Wil Cooksey. A GM plant manager for 15 years, Cooksey details his experiences in his 2013 memoir, No Time to Cry. Upon his retirement in 2008, GM produced 500 Corvettes in his honor and named them the Cooksey 427.

Mid America Motorworks owner Mike Yager, a Corvette Hall of Fame inductee in 2018, will also be in attendance.

Joyce Johnson, chairman of Corvette Weekend, tells The Sentinel-Record that she expects 500 Corvettes to be in town for the gathering. Already registered are Faith Riders of Oklahoma City, OK; Lone Star Corvette Club, Dallas, TX; Sam Houston Corvette Club, The Woodlands, TX; MAD Vettes, Atlanta, GA; Lake of the Ozarks Corvette Club in MO; and Tulsa Vette Set, Tulsa, OK. Other groups registered are Central Kansas Corvette Club, NCCO of OK, Bad Boy Vettes, Vette Girl, SW MO Corvette Club, Iowa Corvette Club, and Mid Western AL Corvette Club.
