Twin Corvette ZR1 Coupes Beat Almost Everyone
Two lightly modified C7 Corvette ZR1 coupes run consistent mid-10-second quarter mile times.
The video above comes from the BigKleib34 YouTube channel and it features a pair of identical Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 coupes with the same modifications taking on all sorts of solid competitors. Both cars run in the mid-10s, allowing them to beat almost everything that lines up with them – from street cars to race cars.
Twin ZR1s
The 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 coupes in the video above are both white, they are both fitted with the ZTK aero package, they both have the 8-speed automatic transmission and they have both been modified with an aftermarket cold air intake and exhaust system. They both appear to have non-factory wheels on the back as well, leading us to believe that they are running some sticky drag radial tires, but in any case, they are both incredibly quick.
Vettes Versus All
The video begins with one of the new Corvette ZR1 coupes taking on a Honda Civic race car. After a lengthy staging process by the compact hatchback, the lights come down and both cars launch. It turns out that the Civic is all noise, sputtering through the top end traps in the 12-second range as the Vette runs a 10.53 at 131 miles per hour.
Next, a race-ready Mustang takes on one of the ZR1 coupes and while the Ford gets off to a big early lead, the Corvette runs it down and wins the race – running a 10.68 to the pony car’s 11.29. There are also two races where a new LT5-powered Corvette takes on a newer Mustang, but that Ford runs in the 13s, so the Chevys slaughter it with ease.
The best race of the video takes place between a first generation Camaro and one of the C7s, with the old school muscle car taking an early lead before the supercharged supercar comes from behind for the win – running a 10.62 to the Camaro’s 11.09.
Finally, a rail car rolls into the burnout box against one of the new Corvette ZR1 coupes and at this point, the Chevy crowd has to be a bit less confident. Not surprisingly, the dragster easily walks away from the street car, coasting through with a 9.20-something while the Corvette runs another 10.63.
