Badass C7 Corvette isn’t just a looker. It’s a purpose-built machine designed to dominate the drags.
If you’re a regular around these parts, you’re already quite familiar with Justin Keith‘s killer, ProCharged, Powerglide-equipped C7 Corvette dragster. We’ve watched this awesome ride progress up the ranks at the strip, of course. But outside of its big blower and fresh 2-speed tranny, we didn’t know much else about what makes this car tick. Until now, that is, thanks to this rather explanatory video from Driving Line.
Keith is the co-owner of Nitto’s Street Car Take Over, so you know he had to build something competitive for the wildly popular series. Thus, he designed the ultimate street ‘Vette, a car that looks good enough to enter shows while also ripping off consistent 8-second 1/8th mile passes.
So what’s the recipe for that success? Well, on the outside, you’ll undoubtedly notice that the gorgeous gray C7 Corvette sports Z06 bodywork. But it isn’t a real Z06, it just wears an OEM body conversion. Up front you’ll find a set of Nitto NT555 G2 rubber in 245/40 spec. The same rubber out back does all the work, albeit in a larger 325/50 size. And the drag ‘Vette lights em up with ease thanks to a 416 cube LME LT1, which wears Frankenstein Engine Dynamics heads.
To reach the four-figure horsepower mark, however, this C7 Corvette relies on a ProCharger F1A-94 huffer and air-to-water race intercooler. Which, of course, sounds killer expelling gasses through Kooks 2-inch headers, an x-pipe, and B&B Bullet exhaust. You’ll also find a built DSS 9-inch rear and BC Racing coilovers underneath. It’s all business inside, with an 8-point cage and racing buckets, but still looks comfy enough to cruise in. All-in-all, this badass C7 Corvette is more than the sum of its parts!
