C7 Corvette Stingray Gets LT4 Engine Swap from Z06
Looks like a C7 Stingray, but makes 666 horsepower at the wheels. You could almost call it a sleeper.
The video above comes to us from the Late Model Racecraft YouTube channel and it features a very interesting C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. In stock form, this car offered 460 horsepower at the crankshaft, but the stock engine broke, forcing the owner to replace it. Rather than going with another LT1, the owner turned to LMR, where an LT4 from a C7 Z06 was installed, but not a stock LT4. The Texas tuner also installed their LMR750 package, so not only is this Corvette stronger than a stock Stingray; it is also stronger than a stock Z06.
LMR750 LT4
The LT4 V8 in the C7 Corvette Z06 offers 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque in stock form, making it considerably stronger than the LT1 in the C7 Stingray. LMR offers a variety of upgrade packages for the LT4-powered Z06, and when the owner of this white Stingray upgraded his broken engine to the LT4, he also had LMR install their 750-horsepower upgrade package.
As you might have guessed, the LMR750 package carries that name because it lifts the output from 650 to 750 horsepower at the crankshaft. It does so by adding a new air induction system, long-tube headers, a 10% lower pulley, a custom tune and all of the other items needed to add a hundred horsepower. LT4 Stingray in Action
The video above begins with a clip of the supercharged Stingray blasting past the camera on the open road, before giving us a closer look at the built Corvette while it is parked. We then get a couple more driving clips, giving us a chance to hear the Z06 engine roar under the hood of the Stingray and then it is off to the dyno.
After watching this Vette stretch its legs on the rollers from a few different angles, we see the dyno sheet and the numbers are impressive. This Corvette made 666 horsepower and 739 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. Based on the 750-horsepower rating at the crankshaft, this LT4 is losing about 11% of its power on the way to the wheels and based on that drivetrain loss ratio, this tuned engine is making well over 800 lb-ft of torque at the crankshaft.
