ProCharged C6 Corvette is a 7-Second Quarter-mile Monster

Monstrous Corvette Z06 runs low 8s on the brakes, showing that a 7-second run is well within reach.

The video above comes to us from the BigKleib34 YouTube channel and it features a badass C6 Corvette Z06 tearing up the drag strip at the Holley LS Fest. This car is well-known in the drag racing world, with owner and driver Fran Schatz showcasing the work of Race Proven Motorsports by handing out beat-downs at the eighth mile and quarter mile lengths.

The Machine

The heart of this bright red C6 Corvette Z06 is a 427-cubic inch LSX engine built by Race Proven Motorsports, fitted with a ProCharger F-1C94. The power is sent to the rear wheels by means of a PowerGlide transmission and a 9-inch rear differential, along with an elaborate suspension and chassis setup.

Schatz Corvette Z06 Front

According to an article by Corvette Online, on roughly 22 pounds of boost, this car made 1,200 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels, allowing the RPM-built Z06 to turn in a best quarter mile time of 7.83 at 179.95 miles per hour.

Dominating LS Fest

The video above shows Fran Schatz’s Corvette making a few runs at this year’s Holley LS Fest. We see a few eighth mile runs and one quarter mile run and on each, Schatz doesn’t appear to be letting it all hang out.

Schatz Corvette Z06 Staging

On the one quarter mile run, this ProCharged Corvette runs an 8.235 at 127.68 miles per hour, but it looks as though Schatz lifts around the 1,000-foot mark, followed by hitting the brakes ahead of the finish line. With Schatz being a heads-up racer, we can only guess that he was letting off with the race won so that the competitors don’t know what his car can run.

Corvette Vs Camaro Wheels Up

On the two other runs, the Schatz Corvette takes on a third generation Camaro and a fourth generation Camaro, both of which take the loss to the RPM Z06. Against the older Camaro, Schatz runs a 4.872 at 144.56 in the eighth mile and against the slightly newer muscle car, the Corvette runs a 4.999 at 144.21 miles per hour.
