After installing the Falcon Design C8 Corvette convertible engine window on this Stingray, it’s pretty obvious the car should come this way from GM.

Those who have shopped for or are shopping for a C8 Corvette are already well aware of the dizzying array of options and configurations one can choose from, which is typically a good thing. However, the ages-old decision between coupe and convertible is a bit different in this case, thanks to GM’s decision to hide its V8 powerplant in the drop top, whereas the coupe comes with a viewing window that lets anyone see the mid-mounted mill in all of its glory. However, some time ago, Falcon Design and Engineering came up with a solution – its HTC Engine Window – and CorvetteForum member findmeintheh recently installed the part on his own C8 Corvette convertible with much success.

Not only did the OP provide us with photos of the install, but he also posted a video on YouTube via the BrianRhodesTV channel, giving us an abbreviated look at how the installation process works, along with some shots of the finished result. In this case, the C8 Corvette convertible owner enlisted a local paint shop to cover the window kit and side vents in Carbon Flash, while American Audio Concepts in Houston handled the install afterward.

There, the crew removed the hatch and cut out the OEM opening to make way for a tempered glass piece, then trimmed the back side of the hatch. The end result of all that work, well, it’s pretty impressive, and this particular piece truly looks like it could have come as standard equipment on the C8 Corvette convertible – though some (including us) would argue that it should.

Falcon Design sells the HTC deck glass window finished in primer, ready to paint, complete with tempered automotive safety glass for $1,495, while shoppers can also opt for a lower engine cover with a heat shielded fiberglass frame, painted carbon flash, and a replaceable 1/4″ Lexan glass for $995 as well. As the company points out, some customers like to purchase another deck lid from GM and then install the window on it, which allows owners to swap out the whole thing yet keep their original piece in case they ever want to switch back.

Either way, it’s hard to argue with these stellar results, because the OP’s C8 Corvette convertible looks fantastic with its LT2 now visible for all to see. As such, we certainly imagine that this will become a popular upgrade moving forward, even though having the part painted and installed might set one back a little bit of money on top. After all, who wants to own a mid-engine hardtop convertible that doesn’t have its engine exposed, anyway?
