Anyone who has watched an eBay auction for a rare part or car knows that the bidding always heats up – way up – at the end.
The 1956 Corvette represented the first major change in styling for the Corvette since its 1953 introduction. For many, the 1956 is their favorite Corvette, and we can see why.
In the classic color combination of Venetian Red with white side coves and a red interior, this car is, simply, classic. Even in its current state, it just oozes Americana. It makes us want to crank up the Chuck Berry and go to a malt shop with our best gal in the passenger seat.
Recently, the car was removed from long-term storage. It was subjected to a minor mechanical refresh, with a new battery, starter, and spark plugs. The fuel tank and fuel lines were replaces, and the carburetors were given a thorough cleaning. The brakes were also given some attention.
The Corvette is in running and driving condition, but per the ad, it needs some more attention to be safe and reliable. The tires, in particular, should be replaced as soon as possible.
Still, the car appears to be rock solid and arrow straight. The undercarriage appears to be completely rust-free. For someone, this could be a reasonably affordable way to buy the C1 Corvette of their dreams. For others, it may be the perfect basis for an award-winning restoration.
With early Corvette values rising every year, there’s never been a better time to buy. Cars like this prove that the Corvette of your dreams might still be lurking out there in a barn or storage shed, waiting for its chance to shine once again.
