If You Owned a Nissan GT-R, Would a 2019 ZR1 be the Next Step?

Is the Nissan GT-R a worthy competitor to the 2019 ZR1 Corvette? We don’t think so.

The Nissan GT-R was truly a revolutionary vehicle at the time of its release. It was fast in a straight line, braked viciously, and gripped like hell during the corners thanks to its advanced AWD system. However, as the years have gone by since its release back in 2007, its gotten a little bit withered and old. The updates to the car have been well received, but at the end of the day, its still the same car it was more than 10 years ago. Considering that a Track Edition 2019 GT-R cost just as much as a 2019 ZR1 and fights in the same class, we might as well make the comparison.

One of the brothers, Brian, is the owner of a 2014 Nissan GT-R with a couple of mods including a stage 3 tune and a full exhaust system. According to them, the GT-R makes a solid 600 WHP, which is no slouch of a power figure especially with the added grip from all four tires. However, the ZR1 can do all that and more. We thought we would get more of a head to head comparison between the two cars in the video, however, that simply wasn’t the case. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t do the same ourselves.

A 2019 Nissan GT-R Track Edition costs around $130,000 MSRP. While a 3ZR-equipped 2019 ZR1 cost around $135,000 MSRP. For that difference in price you are getting, 200 or so more horsepower, a dry-sump oiling system, the option of a 7-speed manual, class-leading MagneRide Suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, and an adjustable exhaust. That’s just the start of it on paper, if we went into actual details about how they drive and how the feel, we might be here all day. Long story short, there isn’t any situation in which would would choose a brand new GT-R over a brand new ZR1.

We would almost bet our money that if somebody offered us a NISMO version GT-R ($177,235 MSRP) at a ZR1 3ZR price , we would still choose the ZR1 every time, because it just performs that much better in every single aspect.
