The C8 Corvette was seized by police after the driver was charged with multiple felonies.
In the long run, crime just doesn’t pay. Alexander Casey, 25, of Albany, GA, is finding that out the hard way. At one time Casey was the owner of a red 2022 C8 Corvette Stingray. However, in April 2023, with the help of K9 Officer Rouge, Panama City Beach police officers seized the car. Casey was charged with felony transporting illegal narcotics and possessing firearms as well as other crimes. Instead of sending the Corvette to the crusher the police had a better idea. They repurposed the car to serve as a symbol of justice.
The Torch Red Corvette was sent to Lightning Graphics in Marianna, FL for a custom wrap job. The wrap includes the phrase “Seized for Service.” It also has the police department livery to give it that official look. But the most impressive aspect must be the stunning rendering of a beach pier that Panama City Beach is known for on the rear fenders. It is a stunning transformation for a car that was once used to carry out serious crimes.
C8 Corvette Seizure
After evading two neighboring police agencies Casey was apprehended by the Panama City Beach Police. K9 Officer Rouge detected narcotics that were concealed in the Corvette. At that point the seizure was executed under the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act. The police then shared a message to the public which was “If you like your stuff & want to keep it … don’t use it for illegal activities!” That message might be a bit late for Casey but perhaps it will make someone else think twice.
Seized for Service
So, what are the police going to be doing with a 194 mph Corvette? There is no light bar installed at this time. It will likely not be used as a pursuit vehicle. It will serve as more of a symbol for justice than anything else. “This vehicle will now be featured in our “Cops ‘N Kids” program, serving as a dynamic tool for public relations and community outreach. It stands as a powerful reminder of the consequences of illegal narcotics possession and transportation, reinforcing the message of law adherence and community responsibility,” per the police department Facebook page.
Corvette on Display
The car will be on display this Friday, December 15, at the Christmas with Cops event outside the PCB Police Department. The event is free and will run from 5 – 8 PM. The event will also feature a snow machine, photos with Santa on his sled, hot dogs, snow cones, popcorn, s’mores, holiday music and free Cops ‘N Kids swag. “We anticipate that the presence of this visually striking Corvette, alongside K9 Officer Rouge, will significantly enhance our community events, fostering a sense of unity and awareness, especially among the youth.” It is a shame that this Corvette fell into the wrong hands in the first place. But it is nice to see that something good is going to come out of it.
