Rare C6 Corvette Centennial Edition ZR1 Up for Grabs in Marketplace
One of just 206 built, this sinister Corvette ZR1 special edition packs performance upgrades and lots of history.
Special editions and Corvettes go together like peanut butter and jelly, cereal and milk, and beer and football. And GM has produced a whole lot of them over the iconic car’s long running history. One of the coolest, at least in our humble opinion, was the Centennial Edition package offered on all Corvettes back in 2012.
The highly attractive special edition, created to celebrate 100 years of Chevrolet (and the Indy 500), is little more than an appearance package, of course. But it’s a really good one. And if you want some speed with those looks, just pick up this gorgeous Centennial Edition ZR1 currently up for grabs in the Corvette Forum Marketplace.
That little designation doesn’t just make it fast, of course. It also makes it rare. Just 206 of these beauties were built in 2012, so you certainly don’t see them for sale every day. And this one’s in pretty immaculate condition, too. It shows just 17k miles on the odometer and packs virtually every option available at the time.
But make no mistake – this isn’t just some stock CE ZR1. It’s packing a host of bolt-ons that really open up that legendary LS9 powerplant. They include a Nick Williams throttle body and ram air kit, 102 mm supercharger snout, Lingenfelter pulleys, bigger fuel injectors, and a tune. With upgraded GM intercooler bricks and a D3 Performance Engineering heat exchanger system with SPAL fans keeping the blown mill cool, it lays down an easy 600 horsepower at the wheels.
The Centennial Edition came in one color, and that’s Carbon Flash Metallic. The car looks absolutely sinister with satin black graphics and wheels. Red calipers and a thin line around the outside of the wheels add a nice bit of contrast. And the latter sports staggered sizing of 19″ up front and 20″ in the rear. Things are similar on the inside, where you’ll find lots of dark suede and leather accentuated by red stitching.
Throw in this car’s carbon roof, side skirts, front lip spoiler, and door sills, and you’ve got one seriously race-inspired package. Which, well, was kinda the point. That’s also why you’ll find Louis Chevrolet‘s goggled face on the B-pillars and wheel center caps. Celebrating both the Corvette and Indy 500’s racing heritage simultaneously, the Centennial Edition is truly something special. And we’re confident you’ll have a hard time finding one as nice as this.
