Staying true to its name, Hot Rod magazine magnificently covers LS Fest East with a stunning series of Corvette-filled photos.
Every year at the Beechbend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, is a festival dedicated to celebrate the power of LS motors: Holley LS Fest East. From the sixth to the eighth of this month, Camaros, Trans Ams, and Monte Carlos all showed up to be admired and appreciated. Though, the one we’ll focus on is the Corvette. Corvettes were powered by LS motors from 1997 to 2013, the longest of any GM product. So, it’s not surprising that Corvettes nearly dominated this event.
As told by Taylor Kempkes from Hot Rod Magazine, there were plenty of ways to admire Corvettes. As this old race car is shown, there was an extensive car show held to showcase all the LS powered beasts. Though, we tend to think the Vettes are the more eye catching hosts.
To further display the prowess and versatility of the Corvette, auto crosses were held. Here, Corvettes like the C7 could show off it’s sporty engineering. While the C7 is powered by a LT and not an LS, they’re close enough to the alphabet to have it not matter so much. After all, once a Corvette always a Corvette, right?
Kempkes also added that there were drag racing events. Here, a Corvette does a hot and sticky burnout while it lines up to dominate the opponent. There are some powerful cars powered by LS engines that shouldn’t be trifled with, but the Corvette is one of the lighter and sportier LS wearers. It must have been one hell of a show.
Here, we see two C7’s leaping at the flash of a green light toward the end of the drag strip. Aside from drag racing, there were several more events that Holley hosted for LS fans. There were also drift shows and competitions, bolt-on competitions, and even dyno testing. For more details on what went down in Kentucky, be sure to check out Hot Rod’s full coverage on the stellar event. We picked only five out of all 50 of their favorite photos.
