If there’s one car we wouldn’t dare underestimate, it’s a Corvette.
We get it. You’ve got a Lamborghini, you want to show it off. Lambos are without a doubt one of the finest Italian exports, a frisky and luxurious sport car. But you know what it isn’t? A Corvette. Of course, Lamborghini has impressive specs for days. But when it comes to getting the job done, Corvette Z06 runs a little harder and plays a little rougher.
Unfortunately, some people never learn. As an example, we came across this video on Reddit. While it does feature street racing–which we obviously don’t encourage–we had to share it because it is pretty kick ass.
The action is captured from inside the Lambo by the wannabe speed racer’s passenger. We can’t see much of the Lamborghini, but yes, this is sweet ride. He’s zipping down the road, trying to catch up to (and challenge) a C6 Corvette Z06 to a race. In one corner we have a Lamborghini Murcie, easily worth about $300K new, versus a Chevy Corvette Z06, around $70K new.
Fact is, a base C6 Corvette Z06 is a certifiable rocket. We don’t know if this ‘Vette has been tuned or upgraded, but does it matter? The C6 ‘Vette has LS-power that turns out asphalt-melting horsepower and velocity.
He finally gets up beside the Corvette and elicits a few growling revs. Before the Corvette has a chance to respond in turn, it is off. And we mean gone. The Corvette Z06 effortlessly puts the hammer down and bolts ahead, leaving the Lambo driver shocked–but impressed. Lambo guy just laughs as the ‘Vette becomes a mere speck in the distance.
And that is why Corvette power is legendary.
Of course, the comments on Reddit were pretty hilarious and savage, but inspired some great Corvette chat.
“Not really surprising. The C6z is a beast by today’s standards,” wrote one comment. Agreeing, another poster added his vivid take. “It’s pants-sh*ttingly fast, even bone stock.” And many enjoyed the red, white, and blue pride that comes with a Chevy spanking a luxury import.
We think one Redditor summed it up nicely: “People forget ‘Vettes are light, and the C6Z with its 427 ci engine doesn’t take much for it to be scary fast at a rather affordable rate.”
So, we respect the effort, Lambo. Next time, remember a hefty and a sexy Italian marque isn’t always enough to take down a Corvette.
