C5 Drag Car Is Looking For A New Owner
Certified 7.5 second C5 Corvette drag car can be yours for $38,500, and it’s powered by big block awesomeness to unlock crazy fast passes.
The Corvette is no stranger to the drag strip, that is for sure. There are some pretty insane bowtie-based dragsters making ridiculously fast passes down the quarter and eighth-mile all over the world. If you’re looking to step into a big boy dragster, we’ve got just the car for you.
This dragster with a Suncoast fiberglass C5 Corvette body is available for sale on Racingjunk in Quebec, Canada, right now. Make no mistake; this is not a beginner’s car. It is certified to run mid 7s and has a full chrome-moly roll cage. This is something only very experienced drivers should consider purchasing.
Thanks to its chassis and roll cage materials, this purpose-built track only dragster weighs only 2,300 pounds with a big block Chevy V8 and Powerglide transmission. Just for reference, that is about 1,000 pounds lighter than your average C5 Corvette. It’s pretty remarkable how little dragsters weigh compared to road-going cars.
From end to end, this beast is built with only speed in mind. It features a mandrel-bent four-link Coilover suspension assembly, using Strange double adjustable shock and spring assemblies. It has Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners and Dana 60 housings with Strange 4.88 ratio gearing. Additionally, it has a pinto rack and pinion mounted to an A-arm forward frame.
Keeping a dragster happy is quite a task. Numerous things could go wrong at any given point, and extra precautions are taken across the board. Firstly, this car features a Moroso double transmission cooler to ensure the gear old doesn’t overheat. Furthermore, it features a 400 gallon per hour fuel pump. So, there is certainly no shortage of fuel delivery on this bad boy. Finally, it features a Procube delay box to ensure you’re getting reliable launches every time.
According to the Racingjunk website, this car has been for sale since February 2016. It is located just south of Montreal in Quebec, Canada. Since the build was finished in 2007, it only made about 100 passes down the drag strip.
If you have been drag racing for some time and are ready to step your game up, this would be an excellent option for you. We hope somebody will pick this thing up soon and start taking it down the strip once again.
