Hennessey HPE850 boosts 2015-19 C7 Z06’s LT4 supercharged V8 to 850 ponies, launching you to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
If there’s anyone out there who can wring out every last drop of performance from the Corvette, it’s Hennessey. The Sealy, Texas-based lunatics have worked their magic on many a ‘Vette since opening their doors in 1991, including the C8-era Corvette just now entering production.
For those who have a 2015-2019 Z06, Hennessey has something for you too. Back in 2019, it unveiled its HPE850 upgrade kit. In their latest video, you get to hear how hardcore the kit is.
Limited to 100 units, the HPE850 upgrade wrings out a ton of power from the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8. From the factory, 655 horses and 655 lb-ft of torque were available. From Hennessey, that figure jumps to 850 horses and 715 lb-ft of torque. Your neck will certainly feel the power upon launch.
The results from the HPE850 are outstanding. The Z06 owner will reach 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, and cross the line at the end of the quarter-mile in 10.3 seconds at 136 mph. The example in the video makes excellent use of Hennessey’s test track, reaching speeds up to 148 mph on the longest stretches.
And how did Hennessey get such performance out of the LT4? They didn’t drop a new supercharger on top of the V8. Instead, they focused on the engine itself. New pulleys, high-flow air induction and heat exchange pieces, custom camshaft, stainless steel headers, and HPE’s engine management all helped in boosting the power.
The rest of the package includes custom badging, dyno tuning, road testing — as demonstrated above — and Hennessey floor mats. There’s also a two-year/24,000-mile limited warranty, giving you peace of mind when unleashing your upgraded Z06’s fury on the open road.
Seeing and hearing this black beauty tear it up on the test track would be the highlight of anyone’s day. There’s just so much to take in. The only way to improve the experience would be to take the wheel for yourself.
As for how much it would cost to upgrade your Z06 to the HPE850 package, Hennessey remains mum. A phone call or email will have to do.
