Don’t Miss Out: Remaining C7 Inventories Dropping Rapidly
According to Chevrolet, there could be as few as 2,000 new C7 Corvettes left at dealerships across the United States by March 1.
The revolutionary new mid-engine C8 Corvette is finally a reality. Construction is in full swing and eager buyers are poised to get their hands on the cutting-edge Corvettes that they ordered. Judging from the reviews so far, they’re going to be pretty pleased with their new vehicles. Pretty much everyone who has driven the new C8 has heaped it with praise. And that, of course, includes Corvette Forum. Our own Derin Richardson wrote that, while the C8 isn’t perfect, it’s still pretty damn amazing.
The arrival of the C8 means that the days of the C7-gen Corvette are well and truly over. It’s also the end of an era that was started by the very first C1 Corvette and its front-engine layout. A brand new front-engine Corvette is- for now at least- a thing of the past. Whether you approve of the C8’s new chassis configuration or not, one thing is for sure. The last of the old school Corvettes are no doubt going to become pretty desirable pieces of American automotive machinery. And they will most certainly be of particular interest to Corvette enthusiasts who aren’t sure that Chevrolet even made the right decision in the first place by switching the sports car’s chassis layout to a mid-engine one.
Keith Cornett over at Corvette Blogger has an interesting bit of news concerning the remaining inventory of still new and unclaimed C7 Corvettes. Corvette Blogger was in Las Vegas recently along with everyone else lucky enough to be invited for a stint behind the wheel of the new C8. While there, Corvette Blogger attended a few presentations organized by the Chevrolet and members of the Corvette team. During one of the presentations, Chevrolet Marketing Manager Steve Majoros showed a slide that listed the inventories of 2019 C7 Corvettes. According to the slide, there are only 2,600 vehicles available across the country. Chevrolet executives think that number is going to drop to under 2,000 by March 1 as buyers snatch up the remaining inventory.
According to Corvette Blogger, the remaining inventory back in mid-January was 3,025. That was based on numbers that are tracked by the dealer inventory management website einventoryNow. The last of the C7 Corvettes will probably become pretty desirable at some point in the future. For now, though, Chevrolet and its dealership network are focused on the rollout of the C8.
As Corvette Blogger rightly points out, there are some great deals out there for buyers who prefer the more traditional layout of the C7. Most dealers are probably transfixed by the shiny new object in their showrooms and will be eager to make a deal. Keeping in mind that the new C8 Corvette is not available with a manual, there’s a strong probability that manual C7 Corvettes, in particular, will become quite sought after. End of an era, indeed.
