Historic Corvette Colors Chevy Should Offer on the C8

Corvette is offered in 12 colors, but members list dozens of classic colors that would fit the C8.

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is available in 12 different exterior colors. That is the largest color palette for the Chevy sports car since the 1980s, so buyers have more choices than they have had for more than 20 years. However, there are still lots of classic Corvette exterior colors that fans of the brand would like to see on the C8.

CorvetteForum sponsor “Dave@Kerbeck.com” recently posted a thread asking the community what classic colors they would like to see on the C8 Corvette. In just a few days, the response to this thread has been huge, with dozens of possible color options being listed.

C8 Corvette Color Question

When the OP first posted his thread in the C8 General Discussion section, he posed the following question to the community.

With the new paint shop being able to have a 12-color palate, C8 Corvette owners have their largest selection of exterior colors since early in the C4 generation.

With such a large availability, I am sure there are some Corvette aficionados that would like to see a color forgotten about, a blast from the past!

If you could choose, what Corvette color not currently offered would you like to see on the 2021 Corvette. We’ve always been a big fan of the Light Pewter Metallic (1998-2002) or even the Fawn Beige (1961-1962) like one of the Route 66 cars driven by George Maharis and Martin Milner (a bit of nostalgia from my boss…don’t holler at me, my boss put that in. I told him no one would know who he was talking about).

Also, many high-line manufacturers give the option of a custom paint for ordered cars. Would you like to see a custom paint option and what would you be willing to pay for it?

The Most Popular Options

We read through this six-page thread and over the course of the 100+ replies, more than four dozen possible color options were suggested. Some members simply said something like “more greens” or “a red with less orange.” Others listed colors that are currently offered or that have been offered in the past. It seems that both Porsche and McLaren have some exterior colors that C8 fans like. Some members also suggested a custom exterior color program, similar to what Porsche offers today.

However, since the OP was looking for historic Corvette colors, we focused on those suggestions. Many colors were mentioned by just one member, but there are quite a few that were requested by multiple members. Lime Rock Green, Night Race Blue, Atomic Orange Metallic, Black Rose Metallic, and Daytona Sunrise Orange got the most mentions from individual members.

Meanwhile, a reply early in the thread by “NoSoupForU” calling for Krypton Green has gotten the most “likes”. That bright green request has gotten 21 likes, but it could be because that member included the image at the top of this piece showing a C8 in the custom green hue. There were a few other photoshops of the new Corvette in other colors, but none were as sharp as the Krypton Green render show above.
