A white and blue anniversary model, with the red-blooded soul of America’s sports car.
I still remember seeing the Carbon 65 for the first time, back in the summer of 2017. I was attending the Concours d’Elegance of America in Auburn, Michigan as a guest of America’s Packard Museum. While my focus that day was on pre-war cars, Chevrolet’s display honoring the upcoming 65th anniversary of the Corvette caught my attention immediately.
In front of a small covered pavilion, Chevrolet displayed one model from each generation of Corvette, from an original 1953 all the way up to a C6. Seeing the evolution of the Corvette’s shape all in white was a striking visual that has stuck with me to this day. I even bought a piece of wall art featuring those same six cars, photographed alongside a red C7.
The real news, though, was inside the pavilion. Those six white Corvettes were meant to whet your appetite for the limited edition Carbon 65 anniversary model on display, in both coupe and convertible form. It was love at first sight, and it might be my favorite Corvette anniversary model.
The Carbon 65 option cost $15,000, and was only available for Grand Sport and Z06 models. Just 650 Carbon 65 Corvettes were built in total, making it a very rare find indeed. of course, you can find anything in the Corvette Forum Marketplace.
Hunting the White Whale
That’s where we found this Carbon 65 Z06 coupe. The car, located in Northern Virginia, has just 11,550 miles, and has always been garaged, according to the seller. That gorgeous metallic white paint has been treated to paint protection film, so rock chips aren’t a problem.
The seller, Z06-In-NOVA, included a scan of the original window sticker. Back in 2018, this Z06 cost a whopping $108,225. Besides the $15,000 Carbon 65 option, this car was also built with the exposed carbon fiber roof panel and the suede microfiber insert seats, as well as the Z06 3 LZ Preferred Equipment Group.
The current asking price is $73,000. That’s not a bad price for someone looking to buy a Carbon 65. There aren’t many of them out there. Just 500 of the 650 built stayed in the USA.
As far as anniversary models go, the Carbon 65 may be the most tasteful. To my eyes, it’s the most attractive. If I had my way, this would be in my garage already. It most certainly deserves a spot in yours.
