C8 Corvette Gets Even More Exotic With Pricey Titanium Exhaust

It obviously isn’t cheap, but a new titanium exhaust system for YouTuber’s C8 certainly looks and sounds awesome.

Many have argued that the new C8 Corvette can be classified as an exotic car. It certainly looks like one, and its mid-engine design places it in rather good company. The performance and everything else you’d expect from a proper exotic is there, just not the obscene price tag. But if you truly want a C8 to follow in the footsteps of a Lamborghini or McLaren, you’ve gotta give it some exotic parts, like perhaps a titanium exhaust.

Titanium exhausts have become quite popular on exotic and hypercars because of their light weight. And well, the fact that they turn cool colors after a while. They’re capable of weighing as much as 40% less than a similar stainless steel setup thanks to the fact that titanium requires less thickness to achieve comparable strength. Those thinner walls also give titanium exhausts a very distinct tone.

There’s just one big problem, of course, and that’s cost. Titanium pipes cost three times as much as comparable stainless pieces. So we weren’t terribly surprised to learn that the titanium exhaust cooked up for YouTuber Daily Driven Exotics‘ C8 by 3:16 Speed set them back a whopping $10,000. But DDE is immediately impressed with the way the setup looks, as well as its crazy light weight.

“You could lift this thing with one hand with no assist,” he says. DDE also marvels at just how heavy the stock exhaust is, though of course, the new setup doesn’t have cats, so it has a bit of an advantage there. DDE guesses that the stock exhaust weighs around 100 pounds, but no one bothers to weigh it.  Other than the obvious weight savings, this C8 does sound pretty awesome with its pricey new setup, however. “That’s so much better,” DDE exclaims. “It sounds amazing. I’m going to shut up now.”

After hearing this thing run, we have to concur. A titanium exhaust certainly makes this C8 sound pretty vicious. But perhaps not enough to warrant the incredible cost of the setup. But for those who want to make their shiny new Corvette as exotic as possible, well, perhaps they won’t mind dropping the cash for this cool-looking, great-sounding system.
