Bumbling Thieves Get Stuck Trying to Steal C7 Corvette Z06

Although the thieves did make off with a Camaro, a small hedge saved the C7 Corvette Z06 they were trying to steal.

We’ve seen more than our fair share of security footage and police video documenting the theft of Corvettes over the years, which often results in high speed chases, scary crashes, and in some rare cases, an actual escape from the long arm of the law. However, while some criminals are quite clever, we also come across our fair share of attempted thefts that one could easily dub the theme music to Benny Hill over – they’re just that comical. Recently, that was the case with the attempted theft of one C7 Corvette Z06 from a dealer lot, according to WGAL news.

That dealership is Morgan Automotive in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where security cameras caught a group of thieves who recently attempted to steal a C7 Corvette Z06 and a sixth-generation Camaro. First, we see one suspect smash the passenger-side window of the Corvette and climb inside, at which point he hit the horn – not exactly the best way to stay stealthy at 1:30 am.

Hilariously enough, that’s only the beginning of this botched theft attempt, as the next clip shows the C7 Corvette Z06 stuck and unable to move after the thief tried to drive it over a hedge and fencing. Despite the thieves’ best attempt to free it, police soon roll in, which quickly puts an end to that work. At that point, the thieves did manage to get the Camaro out on the road, and one of them hops inside and takes off once they see blue lights.

Police proceeded to pursue the Camaro, but wound up calling off the chase in the name of public safety, though they may not necessarily get away for long. A number of local law enforcement agencies and the Pennsylvania State Police have now teamed up to track down the stolen Camaro, and have already discovered that the suspects previously visited the Manheim Auto Auction site and surrounding businesses with the intentions of stealing other vehicles. On the bright side, the C7 Corvette Z06 is safe thanks to a little bit of incompetence, at least.
