How NOT to Drive a C7 Corvette ZR1 (Owner Nearly Crashes While Trying to Show Off)
This ‘noob’ owns a rather powerful C7 Corvette ZR1, but clearly hasn’t mastered the art of driving it just yet.
Though the Corvette doesn’t necessarily have a reputation for being easy to crash, we certainly see our fair share of shocking accidents involving the iconic sports car, regardless. These typically occur when the owner is exceeding the limits of their own driving ability, of course, or other times, when surrounding drivers crash into them. Then there are the folks that can’t resist trying to show off for others or the camera, all in the name of glory, and that desire nearly wound up destroying this C7 Corvette ZR1.
This is no ordinary C7 Corvette ZR1, either – even though the stock version is one heck of a machine on its own accord. Rather, the owner – YouTuber Jashanzr1 – has treated it to a tune and some other modifications that reportedly lift output north of 800 horsepower. Recently, he wanted to take a friend for a ride and show him what the car is all about, all while filming the famous “reaction” style video where his buddy freaks out at how fast the car is.
Things get off to a solid start as the C7 Corvette ZR1 owner gives his car the beans a few times while cruising around, which elicits a “feels hella fast” reaction, along with a few other expletive-laced comments. However, the duo soon reach an empty stretch of tarmac out in the middle of nowhere, which is where the owner can really open things up – and that’s also precisely when disaster strikes.
With his friend armed with a camera, the ZR1 owner hops behind the wheel and expects to snag some sweet footage for his YouTube channel, and that endeavor goes well, at least at first. He manages to rip off a few straight line runs, with the car’s supercharged powerplant making sweet noises, at least until he almost loses control and swerves his way across the road. Luckily, at the time, there were no other cars around, because things could have gone much worse.
Making matters worse, the first thing the driver is concerned about is whether or not his friend caught the incident on film, after which he tries to explain that he lost control of the car’s steering and basically just freaked out. He’s also worried that had he crashed, he wouldn’t be able to get replacement parts for his ZR1, too. At the very least, the driver admits that he’s a “noob” with this kind of car, though we’d certainly suggest that he test out his driving skills in a safer venue – and perhaps do so with a slightly less capable car before trying to show off for the camera.
