Specialty Vehicle Engineering Announces 1,000 HP Twin Turbo Yenko/SC C8 Corvette
The new-for-2024 Yenko/SC C8 Corvette looks impressive, but act fast because only 10 are going to be built this year.
Can’t wait for the C8 ZR1? Do you need to have 1,000 horsepower in your C8 Corvette? Do you love tuner Corvettes? Do you live in any state other than California? Well, today is your lucky day. Specialty Vehicle Engineering has announced that they will be building a twin turbo Yenko/SC C8 Corvette that will make an even 1,000 horsepower. You can order your Yenko/SC C8 Corvette in either coupe or convertible body styles. But if you want one, you need to act fast because they will only build 10 examples this year, and 50 in 2025. Chevrolet builds more Z06s than that every week.
The Yenko name of course comes from Don Yenko, the man that was able to build special high-performance equipment from the factory via Central Office Production Orders, or COPO back in the 1960s. It is a name that carries a lot of weight in the performance car community. That is why you will find the famous Yenko/SC script on the fenders, Yenko crest badges, and more. But this car is not about looks, it is about performance. Let’s take a closer look at what makes this Yenko/SC scream and why it is not emissions legal in the state of California.
Twin Turbo LT2
What does it take to double the output of the already powerful LT2 V8? Well, it starts with a pair of 58mm ceramic ball bearing water cooled turbos cramming air into a blueprinted LT2. The beefed-up engine features “a forged steel crankshaft, forged H-beam rods, forged 2618 aluminum pistons, ARP high strength head and main studs, CNC ported high-flow cylinder heads with upgraded valvetrain, proprietary ground camshaft, custom intercooled intake manifold, custom valve covers with integrated oil separators, upgraded transmission, upgraded high- and low-pressure fuel systems, and custom tuning.” All this power can be heard from the custom exhaust tips. The dual clutch transmission has been upgraded and an optional high wing spoiler is available.
Design
The car can be ordered in your choice of 14 different paint colors, with 10 different option stripe colors. You can choose from 8 different wheel designs and each one is wrapped in Nitto summer ultra high performance tires. On the inside you get Yenko crest power badge with vehicle build number, Yenko crest embroidered front floormats, sYc embroidered stock headrests in white (custom colors optional), and Yenko/SC doorsill plates.
Availability and Price
No price is provided at this time, but considering all the hardware requirements, don’t count on this being a bargain. California residents can buy one, but it can only be legally used while participating in sanctioned motorsports events. If you want additional information, you can contact Specialty Vehicle Engineering at (732) 240-3696 ext. 173. Without knowing the price, it is difficult to determine if this car is worth it. It does get a serious power boost. However, there is no mention of any brake or suspension upgrades. But the Yenko/SC C8 Corvette is distinctive and immensely powerful. And if you are worried about the modifications having an adverse effect on engine longevity, you can rest easy knowing that everything is covered by a 3 year/36,000-mile warranty.
