C7 Corvette Runs Into Crowd 001

While the C7 Corvette hasn’t yet earned the unsavory reputation the Mustang has for crashing into crowds, incidents like this won’t help.

Over the years, the Ford Mustang has garnered a rather unsavory reputation for being, well, easy to crash. Combine rear wheel drive with a powerful V8 and a low price tag, and that phenomenon really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise – after all, putting a machine of that type in the hands of inexperienced or immature drivers is bound to lead to bad things, whether we’re talking about a Mustang, Camaro, Charger, Corvette, or any similar vehicle. Regardless, we rarely see these types of completely avoidable crashes occur with something like a C7 Corvette, though that’s exactly what went down in this short clip recently posted on Instagram by American Muscle HD.

In the clip, it’s pretty obvious that the C7 Corvette driver is trying to do a nice little burnout for the crowd that has gathered nearby, seemingly as part of some sort of car meet. As we often see at these types of meets, there are not only quite a few cars parked all around, but also, a large group of people lining the road hoping to capture some footage of those machines in action as they arrive at or leave the event.

Trouble is, as we’ve seen time and time again, standing that close to the proverbial “action” once again resulted in some injuries, at the very least, when this C7 Corvette owner failed in their attempt to show off for that crowd. Rather than ripping off a satisfying burnout that might make them look cool on social media, the driver has his wheels cut to the right when the rear tires break traction, which sends the car barreling directly into the adoring crowd.

Aside from mowing over a couple of bystanders, it also looks like the C7 Corvette hits a Dodge Durango that’s parked nearby as well, all of which happens in a matter of a second. The whole thing happens so quickly, in fact, that no one really has a chance to react or get out of the way, which is precisely why we can confidently say that neither the driver nor the bystanders made what one might call good decisions on this particular day.

At this point, it certainly feels like we’re beating a proverbial dead horse, but these types of acts are not only dangerous, they’re just downright dumb. There’s a reason why some cars and coffee events are going so far as to actually ban vehicles like Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, and Challengers from their meets, and it’s because there are too many avoidable accidents occurring that involve those vehicles and drivers who exceed the limits of their own skill. So let’s not get the Corvette included on that particular list, shall we?
