Trick for Removing Rear Brake Calipers

If
you’d wish to avoid getting into working on the small steel brake line
fittings to remove the rear caliper, first remove the retaining pin and
brake pads. This also reduces caliper weight for handling. Then break the
large flex hose fitting at the caliper, grab the caliper and rotate it to
twist it off the flex hose. The flex hose remains in place. I found it
much easier to work with this larger fitting. There is plenty of room in
the wheel well to twist the caliper off the hose. Installation is the same
in reverse. Don’t forget a new brass washer.
