Chevrolet Corvette Tire Review: Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT (Extended Mobility Technology) is a Max Performance Summer radial designed to be the factory equipped tire for the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Extended Mobility Technology allows the tire to maintain its shape and drivability when the tire has a total loss of air pressure. This provides a measure of safety, preventing violent blow outs at speed while also saving the space taken up by a traditional spare tire. The Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT is intended to offer firm grip at high speeds and under hard acceleration, ideal for a Vette.

Although the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT is designed to be a high
performance tire with dry traction coming first, the Eagle F1 Supercar
EMT features Goodyear’s AA-Trax tread compound. The name of the
compound boasts of the AA Uniform Tire Quality Grade wet traction
rating given to tires that excel in wet conditions. The tread is molded
into an asymmetric design with a staggered center rib extending around
the tread surface to maintain constant road contact and the tread depth
is shorter than other tires to give the car a more firm grip on the
road. The outside of the tire features a large outer shoulder and
intermediate tread pattern to enhance cornering and the wide
longitudinal grooves work with the interior tread lines to move water
out from under the tires.

Inside of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT, the structure begins with
a pair of high-tensile steel belts reinforced with braided Aramid,
allowing for the weight to be distributed across the contact surface of
the tire. Rayon body plies help to make the tire more resistant to high
temperatures and high speed conditions, and sidewall rim flange
protectors help to prevent from sidewall impact blow-outs.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT tires range in price from $350-$420,
depending on the size of the tire, and the attributes of these tires
are designed to get the most out of your C6 Z06 or your Z51-equipped C6
Corvette. Like all Max Performance Summer radials, they aren’t intended
to be used in very cold or snowy conditions.
