Chevrolet Corvette Tire Review: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-2 EMT

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-2 EMT is an Ultra High Performance Summer radial designed specifically for the C6 Chevrolet Corvette base model. EMT stands for Extended Mobility Technology, which allows the tire to maintain its shape and drivability when the tire has a loss of air pressure. This provides a measure of safety, preventing violent blow outs at speed while also saving the space taken up by a traditional spare tire. The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-2 EMT is intended to offer a smooth and quiet ride, while also offering firm traction under acceleration and hard cornering.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-2 EMT features Goodyear’s AA-Trax tread
compound and the name of the compound boasts of the AA Uniform Tire
Quality Grade wet traction rating given to tires that excel in wet
conditions. The tread is molded in a directional pattern with a split
center rib running around the tire to maintain constantly road contact.
Flanking the center rib there are two rows of Goodyear’s Aquachannels
and high angle tread blocks to funnel water out of the tire surface,
helping to ensure a solid foothold by your Corvette on wet roads.

Inside of the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-2 EMT, the structure begins with a
pair of high-tensile steel belts reinforced with braided Aramid,
allowing for the weight to be distributed across the contact surface of
the tire. Rayon body plies help to make the tire more resistant to high
temperatures and high speed conditions, and sidewall rim flange
protectors help to prevent from sidewall impact blow-outs.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-2 EMT tires range in price from $250-$320,
depending on the size of the tire, and while they offer great wet and
dry traction for a stock tire on your C6, they aren’t intended to be
used in very cold or snowy conditions.
