2003 C5 Chevrolet Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition

2003 was a special year for Chevrolet, marking 50 years of Corvette production. To help celebrate, the company introduced a special 50th Anniversary Edition Vette.

Available only as a convertible or coupe (a Z06 version was not
offered), this C5 Corvette sported a unique shade of red paint called
“Anniversary Red Metallic.” The top was a shale color to compliment the
exterior red, as was the two-tone leather interior. Champagne-colored,
painted-aluminum wheels complimented both the shale and metallic red
colors. A 50th Anniversary “crossed-flags” emblem adorned the front
seat backs, hood, trunk, and fenders.

A new feature, Magnetic
Selective Ride Control, came standard on the 50th Anniversary C5. With
“real-time damping,” it offered two comfort modes: sport and tour. The
50th Anniversary racer included every other convenience option that
came standard on the upper-end Corvette models.

The car became the
showpiece of Chevrolet-sponsored celebrations in three different places
during the year: St. Louis, MO, Nashville, TN, and Bowling Green, KY.
Thousands of Corvette owners gathered to attend special events and to
celebrate. A 50th Anniversary C5 Corvette, slightly modified, served as
pace car for the 2002 Indianapolis 500 in 2002.
