1996 C4 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
At the end of 1996, GM made the C4 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport available; 1000 of these Vettes were produced. This total included 190 convertibles and 810 coupes. With a “nod” to the original Grand Sport of 1963, the 1996 Grand Sports have a distinctive VIN sequence, which sets them off from the other 1996 Chevy Corvettes.
The C4 Grand Sport has a LT4 motor that puts out 340 lb. ft. (461 Nm)
of torque and 330 (246 kW) horsepower. When new, one could order a
Grand Sport only in the Admiral Blue color with a white center strip;
two red hash markings appeared on the hood just over the left front
tire.
Every Corvette with the LT4 power plant has a Grand Sport nameplate on
the motor’s throttle body. Also included when new were stock, black
5-spoked wheels; the Corvette Grand Sport’s interior was only available
in red and black. Rear-wheel arch extensions were included on the
original C4 Corvette Grand Sports because the car had the same rear
wheels as the ZR1.
