Back in October, we brought you news that a Corvette dealer in the Northeast has just acquired a 13-mile 1978 Corvette Pace Car that had been stored in a barn since the day the original purchaser bought the car. With 33 years of dust and dirt on the black and silver paint, pictures of the car went viral and news of the find spread around the world. Now we got word that the Corvette has been washed and sold.
According to CBSBoston.com, the buyer of the 1978 Indy 500 Pace Car Replica was a Sheik from the Gulf State of Abu Dhabi and the selling price was reported to be $50,000.
Despite the Corvette being covered in 33-year layer of dust, the car was still in its original factory wrapper. The window sticker, barely readable through the passenger side window was still affixed and the seats still had the plastic covers on them.
The dealer had promised not to wash the car until it was sold and so it was presented that way in Corvette Mike’s New England showroom in Plymouth. Now that the Sheik has purchased the car, a bath was requested and so Mike and his team obliged and the Corvette finally received a thorough washing.
The selling price of $50,000 is very strong but with just 13 miles on the odometer, this was no ordinary Pace Car.
