Corvettes at Carlise: Meet the Original American Idol

I was checking out the strong lineup of 2012 Corvettes at the Kerbeck Corvette tent when I saw EX-122 sitting in the center, surrounded by her much younger siblings. The Corvette that appeared in the extravagant Motorama display at the Waldof Estoria in January 1953 was now under a tent at a fairgrounds in Pennsylvania. And she was just as beautiful today as she was to those who first saw the fiberglass two-seater 58 years ago.

After doing a walk around the oldest Corvette and trying to soak in every detail, I remembered I was packing a camera. So here are the results of our celebrity photo shoot with the legend that started it all.

As I walked around the experimental concept car, two thoughts came to mind. First, I find it completely appropriate the the oldest Corvette, built for a car show, is now being used by a dealer to help sell cars. I call that fulfilling one’s destiny. Secondly, it did cross my mind that EX-122 was in Carlisle, PA instead of Atlantic City,NJ and therefore should be safe from any damage Hurricane Irene dishes out.
