Change the Headlight on your C2 Corvette

A Corvette C2 is one of Chevrolet’s
most distinctive and popular vehicles. Like other muscle and sports
cars, it has a hefty price tag but excellent appearance and performance
capabilities to match. Among the nicest features of the C2 Corvette is
the headlight system. However, like any other car, the Corvette C2 will
need occasional headlight maintenance in order to function properly.
Routinely change the headlights in your Corvette C2 to be sure that
you’ll be able to properly see when you drive at night or through
enclosed areas. Also, having a proper set of headlight bulb setups in
your car will ensure that you obey driving laws in your state. Read on
for a how to guide on changing the headlights in your Corvette C2.

Step 1 — Gather Materials

You’ll need the following materials in order to properly change the headlight bulbs in your C2 Corvette:

-Phillips head screwdrivers of different sizes
-Replacement low beam bulbs for the C2
-Replacement high beam bulbs for the C2

Step 2 — Prepare the Vehicle

Begin by preparing the vehicle for the procedure. You should first
open up the headlight doors. This can be done in two different ways. You
can either manually open the headlight doors by unscrewing the
activation system along the side of the door with the screwdriver. More
information about how to do this can be found in your vehicle owner’s
manual. The second option is to use the automatic headlight door
function to keep them open. You may have to try a few times, but the
method is to open the doors and then to quickly shut them off before
they have a chance to fully open; this should keep the doors open but
the lights off. Remove the keys from the ignition of the car and put the
parking brake on.

Step 3 — Unscrew the Bezel

The bezel is the section of the headlight that holds the bulbs. In
order to access the bulbs, you’ll have to remove the bezel. Unscrew the
screws on the side of the bezel and keep them separate so that you’ll be
able to access them easily.

Step 4 — Remove the Bezel

Open up the hood of the C2 Corvette to have access to the rear part
of the bezel. Be very careful as you remove it so that you don’t scratch
the paint on the side of the car or damage any of the other items
inside of the hood. The bezel should be removable by hand; simply pull
at the base of the bezel with both hands and remove it straight out from
the headlight door.

Step 5 — Unscrew the Bulbs

There should be two bulbs inside of the headlight apparatus which you
can now reach. The first larger one is the low beam, while the smaller
one is the high beam bulb. Unscrew one or both of these bulbs by hand
and carefully remove them. It’s typically advisable to change out both
bulbs at the same time so that you can avoid having to do this procedure
twice.

Step 6 — Install New Bulbs

Screw in new bulbs where the old ones were before you removed them.
Repeat this procedure for any other headlights that you need to on the
car. Before you attempt to drive again, close up the hood and test to be
sure that the headlights work properly. If not, go back in and check
the connection on the bulbs.  If done properly, your Corvette C2 should
now have a fresh set of headlight bulbs that will last for quite some
time.
