C7 Corvette Stingray to Pace Indy 500

Indianapolis 500 race officials announced today that the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will pace the 97^th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. This will be the 12^th time that a Corvette paces the race.

The car will obviously be different from street-going versions, as it sports the necessary lights and safety enhancements (rollbars, harnesses) that a pace car requires. But that’s where the differences end. It will be equipped with Chevy’s 6.2L LT1 engine, more than enough to pace the field. The race will take place on May 26^th.
