2010 Corvette Review

The 2010 Chevrolet Corvette is available in four basic editions, plus two racing versions. Each has exciting elements, which allow Corvette enthusiasts to enjoy owning and driving the classic Chevrolet Corvette.

Let’s start with the basics —

The 2010 Corvette Coup has a 430 horsepower LS3 V-8 engine. Standard is a six-speed manual gearbox, with the six-speed automatic as an option. The Coup features a removable roof panel that stows neatly in the trunk when it’s time to cruise down urban streets or travel the open highway. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) is $48,930. (All prices below are United States dollars.)

The 2010 Corvette Convertible has the same power plant and transmission as the Coup. With the top down, the trunk still has room for two golf bags. A power roof is available as an option. MSRP is $53,580.

The 2010 Grand Sport Coup and Convertible models also pack the LS3 V-8 and the 6-speed transmission; however, the cars additionally boast special racing features for those who will be heading out to the track. These include special wheels, unique bodywork with flared fenders, and six-piston front brakes. The six-speed transmission on the Grand Sport Coup and on the Convertible employs the dry-sump oil system. The 2010 Grand Sport Coup also features the previously mentioned removable roof panel. The Coup will run you $54,770; the Convertible is $58,580, both MSRP.

These are the basic 2010 Corvette models. Also available are the Z06 and ZR1 racing models.

 The Z06 is for those who desire more than a street racer. Standard is the 505 horsepower, 7 liter LS7 V-8 motor. The Z06 also features an aluminum frame, six-piston front brakes, and numerous carbon fiber components. Top test-track speed for the 2010 Corvette Z06 is 198 miles per hour. MSRP is $74,285.

 If you are thinking racing, performance and class, the 2010 Corvette ZR1 will definitely get you there. Its standard engine is the 638 horsepower, 6.2 liter supercharged LS9 V-8. The ZR1, like the Z06, has an aluminum frame and carbon-fiber components. The car also features Brembo? ceramic brakes. Top test-track speed for this powerhouse is 205 miles per hour; price for the 2010 Corvette ZR1 is $106,880.

New for 2010

The 2010 Corvette has a number of new items. The base Coupe and Convertible have a revised paddle shift control on the six-speed automatic transmission, and launch control is standard on the six-speed manual transmission. The ZR1 also has launch control, plus new ?Performance Traction Management? technology. All the Corvette models have side airbags as standard equipment for 2010.
