2010 Chevrolet Corvette Review
The 2010 Chevrolet Corvette is built on the General Motor’s C6
platform and is offered in the three returning trimlines as well as one
new option. There are just a few changes for the 2010 model year aside
from the new trimline, but one interesting option for 2010 is that any
Corvette is available in any offered color.
The 2010 Chevrolet Corvette base model comes equipped with the 430
horsepower LS3 V8 and base model Corvettes are available as either a
coupe or convertible. The 2009 base model Corvette comes with either an
automatic or manual transmission and launch control is available on all
manual transmission models for the 2010 model year.
The next trimline in the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette lineup is the Z06.
The high performance Corvette Z06 comes only as a coupe and they are
only available with a manual transmission. The 2010 Corvette Z06 is
powered by the LS7 V8 – measuring 7.0L with 505 horsepower. With that
power output, the lightweight body gets the Z06 down a quarter mile in
the low 11 second range. The front fenders are carbon fiber, and the
rear fenders are widened to make room for the extra wide tires of the
Z06. Aluminum and magnesium undercarriage combined with lightweight
skin help the 2010 Corvette Z06 to achieve a curb weight of just 3175
pounds. One of the few additional options for the 2010 Z06 is a new
cashmere interior package.
The third and highest performing trimline for the 2010 Chevrolet
Corvette is the ZR1. The 2010 Corvette ZR1 returns to the Chevrolet
lineup as the fifth fastest production car around the famous N?rburgring
in Germany. The 2010 Corvette ZR1 is powered by the Eaton supercharged
LS9 V8, measuring 6.2L and making a whopping 638 horsepower. A bevy of
carbon fiber body panels designed for optimum aerodynamics help to make
the 2010 Corvette ZR1 one of the fastest cars in the world.
The new addition for 2010 to the Corvette lineup is the return of the
Grand Sport. The 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport was introduced
late in 2009 and this trimline essentially replaces the Z51 handling
package. The 2010 Grand Sport uses the drivetrain from the base model
with the 430 horsepower LS3 mated to either a manual or automatic
transmission. The body of the Grand Sport shares most of its styling
cues from the Z06, as well as the enlarged brake systems from the Z06,
helping the Grand Sport name to return in grand fashion to the Corvette
lineup.
