2009 Corvette ZR1 Review
The 2009 Corvette ZR1 is one of the fastest cars in GM history.
Powertrain
The Corvette ZR1 has a super charged V8 engine that produces 620
horsepower and 595 foot pounds of torque. It can get over half that
horsepower at under 3000 revolutions per minute. It can go from 0 miles
per hour to 60 miles per hour in less than three and a half seconds. For
this power, you do have to pay the price of over $100,000. It has a top
speed of over 200 miles per hour, since the speedometer now has passed
the 200 MPH mark, and goes up to 220 MPH.. It comes as a six speed
manual transmission for the ultimate driving experience. The
transmission was modified so that it can obtain these speeds. It can
actually make it from 0 to 60 in first gear due to the gear rations
being switched. Top speeds can be achieved in gear six due to this
differing setup.
Interior / Exterior
The car comes with base seats but a premium package with leather
sport heated seats, Bose premium sound systems, a navigation system,
blue tooth compatibility, custom leather colored interior if you wish,
and optional chrome wheels are available. The exterior is made out of
carbon fiber, which is usually not used because of weight, but the
Corvette has enough power to easily overcome this added weight. It
allows it to make the car look fierce. There is also a large rear
spoiler that was definitely needed to be put on so that when the car is
at its top speeds, it was stable. The hood may be the biggest thing that
separates the ZR1 from any other Corvette. Made of carbon fiber, it has
a clear window made of polycarbonate, where you can see part of the
engine.
Fuel Economy
The best part of the car may be its fuel economy. It has an
incredibly powerful engine, however it can achieve 20 miles per gallon
on the highway and 14 miles per gallon in the city. Quite impressive for
a super charged LS9 6.2 liter engine. It has an 18 gallon tank, emits
about 11 tons of Carbon Dioxide, and uses up 21 barrels of oil per year.
Overall, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 model is one of the most popular
models out there, as well it should be with all of the features and
power that it provides.
