2009 Corvette Z06 Review
The 2009 Corvette ZO6 provides significant power for a significantly lower sticker price than the ZR1 model. The Z06 model has three trim levels, the 1LZ, 2LZ, and 3LZ. They all ranged between $70,000 and $80,000 when they were first released, but they are all jam packed with features.
Powertrain
The ZO6 comes with a LS7 7.0 liter V8 engine with 505 horsepower and 470 foot pounds of torque. It has a six speed manual transmission. That’s some muscle!
Fuel Economy
For all of that power, it can still get 24 miles per gallon on the highway and 15 miles per gallon in the city for its fuel economy, for a combined rating of 18 miles per gallon. That is pretty impressive for a 7 liter V8 engine. It has an 18 gallon gas tank, emits around 10 tons of Carbon Dioxide per year, and uses about 19 barrels of oil per year. Premium unleaded fuel is recommended.
Safety
For safety, it has the supreme features available like electronic stability control, traction control, as well as a bevy of airbags. It also comes with anti lock brakes, daytime running lights, a rear limited slip differential, and four ventilated disc brakes.
Interior / Exterior
Heated leather seats are standard for the interior, as is a premium sound system, optional navigation system, blue tooth, MP3 compatibility, and dual climate control. You can also get a voice controlled phone system (which could work with your blue tooth). Steering wheel audio controls are also another great option, so that you don’t need to take your eyes off the road while changing the radio. There is a power outlet in the front so that you can charge your phone, laptop, etc. Lastly on the inside, there is an on board computer that tells you yours speed, fuel consumption, and remaining fuel range.
On the exterior, there are xenon headlights, chrome wheels, a rear spoiler, remote keyless entry, etc. There is a trunk spoiler that allows the car to achieve top speeds. The fixed rear window comes with a defogger. Heated mirrors are also popular so that you can always see no matter what the conditions.
The Z06 is a cheaper alternative to the ZR1, yet provides enough features and power to still be considered a top notch sports car. It may fail in comparison to the ZR1, but for $30,000 less it should be highly considered.
