2005 Corvette Review

The 2005 Chevrolet Corvette was the introductory model for the 6th
generation of the Corvette. The new 2005 ?C6 Corvette? was somewhat
similar in appearance to the C5 models with a low, wide stance and
pronounced wheel openings extending the fenders and quarter panels.  The
2005 Corvette shared the round dual-lens tail light design similar to
the previous generation Corvette but for the first time since 1962 the
Corvette did not come with hide-away headlights.  Instead, a fixed
projection headlamp setup is encased in a clear plastic housing ?
providing a European look to the American legend.  To many people, this
?European styling? addition was blasphemy, but the popularity of the C6
has continued to boom since its introduction in 2005. The 2005 Corvette
was slightly shorter than the 2004 models but the wheelbase grew by just
over an inch.  This spread stance allows for better handling and weight
distribution and when testing began for the 2005 Corvette it was clear
that the C6 would definitely continue to set records, both for Corvettes
and throughout the auto industry.

The 2005 Corvette offered more interior room than the previous
generation and where the C5 left off with interior refinement, the C6
picked up and ran with.  The rattles and squeaks of the C4 generation were
reduced a great deal throughout the 5th generation but when
the C6 hit the market in 2005, the Corvette offered an interior trim that
could be compared to many luxury cars around the world.  From the
leather seats and trim to the state of the art sound system, the 2005
Corvette offered everything that a driver could want inside the car.

The 2005 Chevrolet Corvette was powered by a 6.2L LS2 V8 offering 400
horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque with that power plant being mated to
either a manual or automatic transmission.  This made the 2005 Corvette
one of the fastest cars available in the US market and the level of
refinement to the automatic transmission allowed it to be the quickest
auto Corvette ever offered.
