Get a load of this B.S.: The title of the following video is “2015 Dodge Hellcat Annihilates 2015 C7 Z06 Chevrolet Corvette”. Hmm … “Annihilate” is a strong term. Watch the video, and you’ll see what I mean.

See what I mean?

Did the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat pull harder? Yes. Annihilation? Not so much. As forum member “mgrenwic” said when he posted this roll race footage to the forum, the Z06 put up a good fight. Don’t feel too bad for the Z06’s loss, though. Earlier in the day at forum member “NineBall’s” Drag Strip Shootout at Hennessey Performance Engineering’s Lonestar Motorsports Park in Sealy, TX, the Z06 had seen some important victories.

At the shootout, the new Z06 ran a 10.93-second quarter-mile at 128.94 mph on drag radials, making it the first 10-second customer-owned Z06. On street tires, its best ET was 11.77 seconds at 127.05 mph. The best quarter-mile time the eight-speed-automatic Hellcat could muster on street tires was 12.11 seconds at 126.30 mph. In another run it was able to turn in a 126.90-mph trap speed with an ET of 12.39 seconds. It would be interesting to see how much faster the Challenger SRT Hellcat would have been on drag radials.

Here’s the full list of results from NineBall’s blog:

Hopefully the Z06’s drag strip victories will prevent you from euthanizing your Corvette because of its roll-race loss to the Challenger SRT Hellcat.

Forum member “robe38“, who owns the record-setting 2015 Corvette Z06, has this to say about the roll race, which was done on stock tires:

“We did three rolls between 45-50 mph, and [the Hellcat] honked on all of them. On each run I spun the tires and went sideways when I smashed the throttle in second gear. That is why he got the jump on me every time. The first time I stopped at around 85 mph, and around 100-110 mph the next two races. They wanted to find an empty road somewhere for some dig runs, but I didn’t want to because it would’ve been even less traction than when I raced him at the strip.”

Bottom line: what we have here is a beautiful exhibition of American horsepower. Just look at how the Hellcat and the Z06 leave the regular traffic behind as though the regular people in the regular cars/trucks are slamming on the brakes.

… and if you’re still feeling depressed, just look at this to cheer you up.
