I’d love to see the engineers who worked on the new Corvette Z06 pack a suitcase. I bet you they can fit a month’s worth of clothes and toiletries into an overnight bag. They managed to cram killer looks and insane amounts of power into the high-performance machine without weighing customers down with a (relatively) heavy sticker price.

That’s the basic conclusion The Hooniverse comes to in the video below. Its $85,000 Z06 tester has sinister black wheels positioned under its eye-catching red paint, aggressive-looking and functional vents, and carbon-fiber interior accents. The cabin’s rev-matching seven-speed manual gearbox is attached to the mighty supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8, which produces 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. That monster makes an addictive sound, although it drowns out the whine of the blower.

Presenter Jeff Glucker does a little whining of his own, though. He finds the Z06’s touchscreen a little slow to respond to his inputs. However, the snug fit of the car’s seats and its storage capacity are to his liking, as is the ride quality of the Magnetic Ride Control suspension.

Ultimately, Glucker calls the new Z06 “the king” of bang-for-the-buck sports cars. What do you C7 Z06 owners think? Do you agree with his assessment?
