OPTIMA Presents Corvette of the Week: New-Car Smell Intact

2009 Chevrolet Corvette 2LT Coupe in Yellow Home

What happens when you only put 4,450 miles on a garage-kept 2009 Corvette? In addition to being featured on Corvette of the Week, you get to keep something that is very treasured: the new-car smell.

In the pantheon of astonishing ingredients in the human experience, for me, the new-car smell is a top-ranking player … right up there with a mother’s love and the sensations involved with popping bubble wrap.

Being that Corvette Forum member Don “Treyvette” owns a five-year-old C6 with the new-car smell intact, I’d imagine he has a very close relationship with one of life’s greatest aromas. For that, I consider Don the 37th luckiest person in the world. Just behind Don, in 38th place is the quality control guy on the Oreo production line who has a roaring metabolism.

While we’ve established how preserved this Corvette is, there’s actually more to the story. The yellow targa top has never been removed, and get a load of this: according to Don, no one has ever sat in the passenger seat. This low-mileage C6 is a true time capsule — a time capsule that can be yours. Don has this car listed for sale on the forum.

Corvette - America's Star-Spangled Sports Car (Benley Publishers)

In addition to winning the prestigious “Corvette of the Week” title, Don also wins a copy of Corvette – America’s Star-Spangled Sports Car – The Complete History – 1953-1982 by Karl Ludvigsen. This book is overflowing with Corvette information. It may as well be titled “Corvette Knowledge Supercharger”. Just look at the raw numbers: 52 chapters, 784 pages and 989 photos, illustrations and diagrams. Thankfully the human brain has enough “disk space” to hold all that information.

Enjoy the book, Don, and good luck with the sale.
