Jimmie Johnson’s resto-mod Stingray may be the coolest Corvette at SEMA

One thing’s for certain: Jimmie Johnson definitely knows how to treat a Corvette. This 1971 model customized by the NASCAR champion and being displayed at SEMA is proof of that. The vintage Chevy, one of the latest Corvettes restored by Johnson, features both exterior and interior updates, and an all-new Gen V LT1 crate engine, which the folks at Chevy are making available for a suggested retail price of $11,000 for the wet sump version and $11,250 for the dry sump.

Johnson’s latest creation, intended to showcase a number of Chevy aftermarket performance parts, also has an updated chassis and brakes from a C6 Corvette Z06.

Exterior features include a custom hood vent inspired by the current Stingray along with restyled front fender vents and 18-inch wheels designed after the original 15-inch rally wheels offered in 1971.

Inside, Johnson chose to stick with the original-style bucket seats trimmed in black leather with suede inserts. The interior also features a suede-wrapped, three-spoke steering wheel, as well as carbon fiber accents. Yup, this sounds like a winner to me.
