Jeremy Clarkson Could Be Parking a New Show at Netflix

We to hate say we told you so, but we told you so.

Less than a week after speculating here that another platform (uh, like Netflix) could be revving up to offer Jeremy Clarkson a major deal, it appears that the former Top Gear host is close to seeing that come to fruition, according to a Carscoops report.

Clarkson, who was axed last week by the BBC network for allegedly punching a producer, is rumored to be creating a new show with Netflix.

The report speculates that the streaming service is prepared to offer the British auto critic “full control” over anything he creates for the outlet, and we imagine they are willing to pay him loads of money to do it.

The general feeling here was that Netflix are the ones with the most cash, freedom, and a sizeable enough audience to lure Clarkson in for the deal.

Of course, there’s been a few conspiracy theories on the whole thing floating around. One we heard circulating around the office here at Corvette Forum was that the BBC ramped up contract rates with Netflix. Then Netflix approached Clarkson and told him to get fired so they could bring him and his bros onboard with their own show. Netflix does it. Netflix flips BBC the middle finger and makes a huge profit.

Another theory discussed here at the office is how much did that BBC producer, Oisin Tymon, get paid to get punched and help set up the deal?

Okay, so that’s probably a lot less plausible than the first one, but a potential Clarkson move to Netflix certainly could amount to a hefty payday for those helping land the TV host a new gig at the streaming service.

One thing’s for sure, we’ll certainly be following this one to see how it all plays out.
