Corvette now at Center of Claims of NCAA Violations

There’s nothing crazy about anyone being lured to do something with the promise of getting a Corvette.

Hell, short of skydiving off the Empire State Building, I’d probably do just about anything for a chance to own a new Z06, as long as it was legal. The trouble is, when a former big-time high school football recruit insinuates that he was offered a new Corvette to play for the University of Alabama, it’s big news.

The claim popped up after current Alabama running back Derrick Henry posted a picture of his new Dodge Challenger on Instagram, which has raised questions of illegal recruiting practices at the university.

Alabama is completely denying any claims of wrongdoing, but after seeing the post, former West Virginia quarterback Pat White responded on Facebook saying, “Stop pretending like you didn’t know the Crimson Tide has been doing this for years. Still glad I turned down a Corvette to become a Mountaineer.”

The Corvette is certainly no stranger to football: a number of NFL players have been awarded ‘Vettes in the past for MVP as part of Chevrolet’s sponsorship of the Super Bowl (as pictured above).  The cars are also popular among a lot of NFL players.

However, personally, I find White’s accusations a little hard to believe considering that no kid in his right mind would pick a Challenger to play at a university that was also offering up Corvettes.
