2015 Corvette Z06 Beats 2014 Dodge Viper SRT TA

We have been waiting for this video for almost a month now, but it is finally here. The 2015 Corvette Z06 has beaten the 2014 Dodge Viper SRT TA. Let’s rejoice in the redemption.

Earlier in December you’ll likely recall the new C7 Z06 was beaten by the Viper TA seven times. You don’t need to recall the uproar that caused because we’re still in the midst of all the anger about that Brutal beating. I’ll direct your attention to how I spelled “Brutal” with a capital B. I mean, the beatdown that Viper handed the new Z06 was so brutal, I am compelled to start the 501(c)(3) paperwork for the Battered Z06 Foundation.

Anyhow, let’s forget about that for a moment. Sit back and feel the healing by seeing the new Z06 finally giving us the performance we expected of it.

According to the video above, here are the mods that have been done to the 2015 Corvette Z06 and the 2014 Dodge Viper SRT TA: none. That’s right: stock versus stock. According to the chase car video below, the Z06 (with Z07 package) only had 150 miles on it at the time of the race.

Update: According to Nicholas Frank, who posted this video to Instagram, the passenger capturing all the action in the Viper TA weighs 220 lbs., but Frank says the lack of a passenger would have been insignificant to the outcome. Frank also says, “We had three good runs where the result was fairly similar.”

Here’s a much longer video of the action from the chase car.

Something I am seeing repeatedly on the forum is how people are saying this video doesn’t prove anything. OK, so there’s a 220-lb. passenger in the Viper, but as strongly as the Z06 is pulling away, I’m with Nicholas on this one. I don’t think the difference would be that significant if the Viper dropped its passenger.

Although the first video’s quality is crappier than a Porta-Potty at Burning Man, the evidence cuts through the B.S. with crystal clarity. The 2015 Corvette Z06 can, in fact, beat the Viper, and this isn’t the last victory over Viper we’ll see.

As more 2015 Corvette Z06s get broken in, and as more drivers who have the ability to bang gears get a chance to compete against the Viper, we’ll see more victories like this … except the video quality will be 2,600 to 6,300 times better.

If you still lack confidence in the 2015 Corvette Z06, just watch this owner crack off a 3.1-second 0-60 run.
