You Make the Call: ’68 Pro Touring ‘Vette or ’71 Resto Mod
Honestly, I actually feel a little guilty drooling over this one.
There’s no denying that this 700-HP Pro Touring Corvette is flat-out breathtaking. But my fascination with the C4 makes me feel like a bit of a cheater, given my love affair for Jimmie Johnson’s resto-mod, first covered here on Corvette Forum.
I mean, what’s a classic Corvette man to do?
The ’68 C3, owned by Harold Chapman, is certainly worthy of skipping out on Johnson’s ’71 mod considering she’s got quite a look to accompany those 700 horses under the hood, as highlighted in the full Super Chevy report here.
The NASCAR champion’s ‘Vette, on the other hand, has a little more classic appeal with its 18-inch wheels modeled after the original 15-inch rallys. That rich vintage look of Johnson’s SEMA showcar has even been maintained inside with features like the original-style bucket seats.
That’s not to say that the interior work on Chapman’s Corvette (pictured above) isn’t noteworthy as well.
Decisions, decisions, decisions…
