Okay, so it’s not like there’s some sort of tin-foil hat conspiracy about how your Tesla’s battery re-charge power is generated, or where the components of the battery come from either. This one is a bit more simpleminded. Here’s the thing: Teslas can smoke tires like nobody’s business. In the video below, you’ll see clouds of tire smoke that’ll offset a carbon footprint the size of a Yeti’s snowshoe.
Admittedly the driver is lucky he has a large plat of land to flail around on — and flail he does. If you’re looking for Formula Drift finesse and style here, you won’t really find it. Just a couple of guys who’ve found the “traction control off” button in a borrowed rear-drive Tesla. Yep, it’s not even their Tesla, and yet they obliterate a set of tires in an afternoon. For science, probably. Take from that what you will, but this sure is one way to completely negate the point of an all-electric car designed to reduce its impact on earth. Personally, I’d rather do this kind of pavement painting in something with a V8.
