Should We Just Forget the Corvette Nomad?

A treasured piece of nostalgia or a dreaded disaster we wish never happened?

That’s one of the first things that comes to mind after taking a look at this 1954 Chevrolet Corvette Nomad replica which was recently highlighted in a Yahoo Autos report.

The original Corvette station wagon, first introduced as a concept at a New York Motorama show in 1954, has become one of those interesting pieces of Chevy history that you don’t quite know what to think about some 60 years later.

Essentially a mix of a 1953 Corvette and a Chevy sedan, the Nomad station wagon has always been an interesting conversation topic among enthusiasts.

This replica, which is making its way onto the auction circuit, is powered by a 350 cubic inch V-8 engine dropped into a body made from a 1955 Pontiac Safari wagon and a Camaro front subframe. Other features include front disc brakes and a Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission.

The original blue and white interior elements of the Nomad have been kept intact with a few modern updates, which might make the car more appealing to some. But I’m not even sure features like power windows and an air conditioner could make the Nomad palatable for many Corvette fans here.
